A dash means that country has no size for this ring. It happens only with the very smallest and very largest rings, which jewellers sell by their US or European size.
Find a size you already know in this ring size chart, and the same row shows what it's called in the US, the UK, Europe, Japan and India. All measurements are taken inside the ring, where it sits against your finger.
US ring size chart
If you have a ring that already fits, measure straight across its inside and find that number in the diameter column. Your US size is at the start of the same row. The United States, Canada and Mexico share these numbers, and half sizes such as 6½ sit between the whole ones.
The sizes come from the ring size table on Wikipedia, which is the one most jewellers use.
Converting ring sizes by country
Each country gives the same ring its own name. A typical women's ring, for example, is a 7 in the US, N½ in the UK, 54 in Europe and 14 in Japan and India.
Australia uses the UK letters, and China uses the Japanese numbers. Italy, Spain and Switzerland have their own numbers: an Italian 14 is a European 54.
Ring size guide
Think of a size as a name for the hole in the middle of the ring. A bigger hole always gets a bigger number or a later letter:
- The US, Canada and Mexico count up in whole and half numbers.
- The UK, Ireland and Australia use letters. After Z come Z1, Z2, Z3 and Z4 for the biggest rings.
- In most of Europe the size is the distance around the inside, in millimetres, as set by the international standard for ring sizes.
- Germany and the Netherlands use the distance straight across the inside, also in millimetres.
- Japan, China and India use whole numbers only. When a ring falls between two of them, the chart shows both, such as "13 to 14".
Ring size chart by circumference
If you wrapped a strip of paper around your finger, find its length in the circumference column. A soft tape measure works too, as long as it lies flat and snug. If your tape shows inches, tap the inches button above the chart.
Ring size chart in cm
If your ruler shows centimetres, a reading of 5.4 cm is the 54 in the chart.

Questions people often ask
Can my phone measure my ring size?
Yes. On the home page of this site, hold a bank card against the card drawn on the screen and move the slider until the two are the same size. All bank cards are the same size, so the page then knows how big things really are on your screen. Lay a ring on the circle, or type the length of your paper strip, and you see your size for every country.
Can I print a ring sizer?
Yes. On the sheet you can print there are circles for US sizes 3 to 13, half sizes included, and a paper strip with millimetre marks. There is also a bank card outline on it, so you can check the page printed at its real size.
Do men need a separate ring size chart?
No. A size describes the ring, not the person wearing it, so one chart suits men and women alike. Above US 13 there is no Japanese size, so for a very big ring give the shop its US or European size.
Which size is the smallest on the chart?
US 0 is the smallest. It is smaller than the first UK letter, A, and smaller than size 1 in Japan and India.
