Printable ring sizer

Print this page at 100 %. Lay a ring that fits on the circles, or cut out the paper strip and wrap it around your finger. A bank card on the outline proves the print came out at true size.

A printable ring sizer is a page you print at home and use with a ring you already have, or with a paper strip around your finger, to find your size. The sheet has circles for every US size from 3 to 13, half sizes included, a paper strip with millimetre marks, and the outline of a bank card. The card outline lets you check the page printed at its real size.

Printing so the size stays true

When the print window opens, choose "actual size" or 100 %, and make sure "fit to page" is switched off. Fit to page shrinks the sheet, and then every circle comes out too small. Blue Nile, a large online jeweller, agrees.

After printing, lay a bank card on the printed card outline. Every bank card is the same size, so it should sit exactly on the outline. If it sticks out, or there is a gap round it, your printer resized the page, so print it again.

Does a printable ring size chart actually work?

Yes, as long as the sheet printed at its real size and the ring you use already fits the right finger. Lay the ring flat on the page and find the circle that matches its inside edge. Inside that circle you will see its US size, and the UK letter just below.

When a ring falls between two circles, pick the larger circle. This counts more for wide rings, since they feel tighter than narrow rings at the same size.

Ring size chart shown life-size

Each circle is the size of the hole inside a ring. If your strip measured round your finger, this table shows which size that length means.

USUKAround the finger
5J½49.3 mm
6L½51.9 mm
6½M½53.1 mm
7N½54.4 mm
8P½57.0 mm
9R½59.5 mm
10T½62.1 mm
11V½64.6 mm

The sheet is drawn from the standard ring size table.

Is a ring size kit necessary?

Not when you are only measuring once. The printed page can do what a plastic set of trial rings does, because it gives circles for each half size from US 3 to 13 plus a strip for your finger.

If a ring you own already fits the right finger, you can leave the strip aside and match that ring to the circles, or measure across its inside. Blue Nile recommends that route too, and it removes guessing about how snug the strip should feel.

The strip works on a bare finger, so it helps when the ring is for you and there is nothing to copy. Cut along the lines before you begin.

  1. Wrap the strip round the bottom of your finger, numbers facing out, since a ring sits there.
  2. Mark with a pen where the end meets the strip, or read the number at that spot.
  3. Type that number into the ring sizer on our home page under My finger, just as it is.

A strip that reads 54.4 mm, for example, is a US 7. In Europe the size is simply that number of millimetres, so it is a European 54.

Is a printable ring size chart PDF available?

There is no separate file to download. You print this page straight from your browser, on A4 or Letter paper, and both give circles and a strip of exactly the same size.

Common questions

Can I measure my ring size on my phone?

Yes. The ring sizer on our home page works on a phone. Hold a bank card against the card shown on the screen, once, then lay a ring on the circle or type your strip length.

Is the ring size chart given in cm too?

The sheet uses millimetres, the small marks between the centimetres, because ring sizes are very close together. A 5.4 cm strip is the same as 54 mm.

Will one sizer work for women's and men's rings?

It does. There are circles from US 3 to US 13, and the strip goes up to US 16, so one sheet is enough for everyone.

What does the result show after I enter my measurement?

Your size appears for the US, the UK, Europe, Japan and India together, so you can give the shop the size it uses. A US 7, for example, also shows as Japan 14 and India 14.
