The average men's ring size is US 10 to 11, and US 10½ is the most common size. A size 10½ ring measures 20.17 mm across the inside. To find your size or choose a ring for someone else, start with a finger measurement or a ring that already fits, then compare it with the chart.

Men's ring size chart
A ring's size is measured on the inside of the band: straight across (the diameter), or all the way round (the circumference). Both are here, with the UK letter and the European (EU) number for each size, from the standard size comparison chart. A ½ after a UK letter means a half size.
| US size | UK size | EU | Across the inside (mm) | Inside circumference (mm) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | P½ | 57 | 18.14 | 57.0 |
| 8½ | Q½ | 58 | 18.54 | 58.3 |
| 9 | R½ | 60 | 18.95 | 59.5 |
| 9½ | S½ | 61 | 19.35 | 60.8 |
| 10 | T½ | 62 | 19.76 | 62.1 |
| 10½ | U½ | 63 | 20.17 | 63.4 |
| 11 | V½ | 65 | 20.57 | 64.6 |
| 11½ | W½ | 66 | 20.98 | 65.9 |

Hand size and men's ring size
Bigger hands usually mean a bigger ring size. The Antique Jewellery Company says men with bigger hands usually fall between US 11 and 12, and men with smaller hands usually land between US 9 and 10.
So the size that suits one man can be quite different from the next.
What's the average ring size for a man?
Most men wear a US 10 to 11, and 10½ is the most common size. In the UK that is a T½ to a V½.
How to measure a man's ring size at home
All you need is a strip of paper and a ruler marked in millimetres to get a good estimate.
- Cut a narrow strip of paper and wrap it firmly around the base of the finger the ring will sit on.
- Mark the spot where the paper crosses over itself, then lay it flat and measure that length in millimetres.
- Compare your measurement with the table's inside circumference column to estimate your size.
Most rulers have small millimetre marks between the centimetre numbers, so count those. You can also type the length into the ring sizer on the home page and it shows the size for you.
Another way is to use a ring he already wears on that finger. Measure straight across the middle of it, and find that number in the "across the inside" column.
Wide bands feel tighter, so for a band wider than about 4 mm, go up about half a size. If his knuckle is large, the bigger size is the safer choice too.
Men's ring size averages from jewellers
Jewellers who count their own sales say much the same. One looked at 5,000 orders and found the average man wore a US 10.
Still, an average is only a starting point when you have nothing else to go on. Measuring his finger is the better way to find his size.
What's the average men's pinky ring size?
There isn't a reliable average for men's pinky rings. Your best bet is to measure the little finger itself, with a strip of paper or a ring that already fits it well, rather than guessing from the ring-finger size.
Questions men often ask about ring sizes
How big is a size 7 ring for a man?
A US 7 is about 17 mm across the inside. That is smaller than most men wear, though it can be the right size for a slim finger.
Is size 10 a big ring for a man?
No, US 10 is a very ordinary size for a man, right in the middle of the usual range.
Do ring sizes differ between countries?
Yes. The US, the UK, Europe, Japan and India each name sizes their own way, so the same ring has a different name in each. The ring size converter shows them all for any size.
