Indian ring size chart
Indian ring sizes are whole numbers from 1 to 37. They do not follow a simple formula, so a chart is the easiest way to convert them. Each row matches an Indian size to US and UK sizes and to mm.

A dash means that country has no size for this ring. It happens only with the very smallest and very largest rings, which jewellers sell by their US or European size.
This chart lines up Indian ring sizes 1 to 37 with US, UK and European sizes, plus the millimetre measurements. Indian sizes are plain whole numbers with no simple rule behind them, so a chart is the reliable way to convert. The rows follow the ring size equivalency table used by jewellers around the world.
Indian sizes alongside US, UK and EU equivalents
Every row of the chart gives an Indian size with its US, UK and European names, and two measurements of the inside of the ring: the width straight across, and the distance all the way round. Both are in millimetres, so even a ring with no size stamped on it can be matched.
Some US sizes fall between two Indian numbers. Then the chart gives both, such as "4 to 5" for a US 3, and either one will be very close.
Why the Indian numbers look so different
India, Japan and China all use plain whole numbers, and none of them goes up in even steps, so there is no simple sum to turn one into another. The standard table gives Indian sizes up to 37, which is a US 16.
For the most common sizes, the Indian number is about double the US one: a US 6 is an Indian 12, and a US 7 is an Indian 14. That rule stops working for very small and very large rings, so check the chart.
Is one chart used by every Indian jeweller?
Not quite. A few big Indian jewellers publish their own guides, and their numbers can differ a little from the standard table. Tanishq, for example, puts its size 1 at 13.10 mm across, almost the same as the standard table.
So it helps to keep your measurement in millimetres. Any jeweller can match that to their own chart.
Finding your size from a ring you already wear
The easiest way is to use a ring that already fits that finger. Measure straight across the inside with a ruler, find the closest number in the "across" column, and the Indian size is at the start of that row.
If you wrapped a paper strip round the finger instead, use the "around" column. A strip of 54.4 mm, for example, is an Indian 14.
Questions people often ask
Does the US ring size match India's?
No. The two countries give the same ring different numbers. They agree only at size 2, and after that the Indian numbers go up faster: a US 13 is an Indian 30.
How does 7 cm convert to an Indian ring size?
A strip of 7 cm round the finger is the same as 70 mm. The closest row is Indian 30, which is a US 13.
Converting UK letters to Indian sizes
The chart covers UK letters too. A UK P is an Indian 16, a UK S is an Indian 20, and a UK N falls between Indian 13 and 14.
How do sizes 6 and 7 translate in India?
A US 6 is an Indian 12, and a US 7 is an Indian 14. An Indian 6 or 7 is a much smaller ring, about a US 3¾ or 4¼, so always check which country's size you have.
