EU ring size chart
European ring sizes (ISO 8653) are the inside circumference in mm, so an EU 54 measures 54 mm around. France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Sweden all use them. Each row matches an EU size to US and UK sizes.

In this EU ring size chart, each EU size is simply the inside circumference of the ring in millimetres. So EU 54 means 54 mm around the inside, and that same ring is a US 7 or a UK N½. This chart lines up each EU size with the US and UK equivalent, plus the millimetre measurements.
EU sizes with US and UK matches
Each row gives the European size with its US and UK names, and two measurements of the inside of the ring: the distance all the way round (the circumference), and the width straight across (the diameter). The numbers come from the standard ring size table.
If your measurement falls between two rows, pick the nearer one. European sizes go up one millimetre at a time, so there are no half sizes.
Where the European numbers come from
Across most of Europe, the size is simply the number of millimetres round the inside of the ring, as the international ring size standard sets out. That is why European numbers look so much bigger than US ones: they are real millimetres, not a count that starts at 1.
So a size 54 ring measures 54 mm round the inside, and in the United States the same ring is a size 7.
Does an EU size mean the same thing across Europe?
Mostly, yes, though two other kinds of number turn up in some shops. Italy, Spain and Switzerland use smaller numbers for the same ring: their size 10 is a European 50, and a US 7 is a size 14 there. Shops in Germany and the Netherlands sometimes give the width across the inside instead, so a German "17" can be the same ring that most of Europe calls 54.
If a number looks odd, ask the shop which measurement it means. The chart gives both for every size.
Measuring in centimetres and millimetres
Many rulers show centimetres. A paper strip of 5.4 cm round your finger is 54 mm, so your European size is 54: the number you measure is the size itself.
To find the US or UK name, look along that row of the chart: a 54 is a US 7 and a UK N½.

Questions people often ask
Do EU and US ring sizes match?
No. The two use different numbers that go up in different steps, so two US sizes sometimes share one European size: both a US 6¾ and a US 7 are a European 54.
What US size is EU 50?
A European 50 is about a US 5¼ and a UK K. In India it is a 10.
What US size is a 21 mm ring?
If the ring is 21 mm straight across the inside, it is about a US 11½, which is a European 66. If 21 mm came from a strip round your finger, something went wrong, because even the smallest ring is 36.5 mm round. Measure again.
Is it OK to measure in inches rather than millimetres?
Yes. Tap the inches button on the chart and every measurement switches to inches, from the same size table. A US 7, for example, is about 2.14 inches round.
